Some 10 years ago the IRA exploded a bomb in the town centre of Warrington on a Saturday morning. There were 56 people injured, some of them seriously and two children killed. The father of one of them, Colin Parry is a long-term friend and colleague of Liveryman Paul Mawdsley. As a consequence of his sons death Colin Parry has established the Peace Centre in Warrington. It is a wonderful facility; they cater for children and youths who have been traumatised by civil strife. Originally, this was mainly children from Ireland but has now expanded its facilities to embrace places such a Bosnia, Serbia and Iraq. Paul Mawdsley writes: "I am contacting you to ask for your help. On October
31, a major London based company has offered to host an evening event
on behalf of the Foundation at their offices in Canary Wharf. The event is designed to raise their profile and provide them with introductions to potential new supporters, who will more than likely know little if anything of the foundation’s existence, let alone its work. I think people will realise that Gerry Adams and Colin Parry sharing the same platform is a magnificent step forward. As you
can appreciate, reaching people with the right kind of connections is
vital, especially in terms of working in and around the capital. For more information view their website www.foundation4peace.org Thank you and best wishes.
